The social media multimodal project is a culmination of the research

Overview
The social media multimodal project is a culmination of the research you have completed for the annotated bibliography and the previous writing assignments (audience analysis and proposal).

You will use the research you have completed to address your research question through social media platforms.

For your posts, you will summarize, analyze, and synthesize the information from the sources you have gathered to demonstrate a conversation with the sources.

Be sure to be aware of your chosen audience, making decisions about your prose based on this group.

Your infographic and posts should be the equivalent of 8 pages of academic writing in scope and sophistication.

Project Recipe
The project should consist of at least 20 social media posts:
1 infographic
12 summary posts – posts should include a summary of the source in your own words (evaluative or nonevaluative)
4 analysis threads – your series of posts should include your original evaluation of one source
3 synthesis threads – your series of posts should create dialogue between multiple sources

Categories

More so, Infographic (1): The infographic is a visual way to present research and information. The infographic should be visually appealing and easy to read. It should be easy for the reader to digest the information presented.

More so, the infographic should show evidence of careful and thoughtful planning in what information to present and how. The infographic should also show evidence of careful design choices.

Summary (12): The summary posts should clearly and accurately capture the main ideas from the original source.

In addition, the summary should be written completely in the student’s own words and be written in a way to encourage the reader to pursue the linked source.

Analysis (4): Analysis posts/threads should include the student’s original evaluation of one source, offering his/her evaluation of the source.

Also, the analysis should be crafted in a way that would encourage a reader to click on the link of the analyzed source.

Synthesis (3): A synthesis requires students to combine multiple sources, creating something new, with a clear argumentative purpose.

Rather than the compare/contrast template they may have experienced in high school, students should create dialogue between the sources.

Lastly, the synthesis should encourage the reader to follow up on the linked sources.

Standard of federal judicial review of the state statute used by the Court

Introduction: Main section  What is the standard of federal judicial review of the state statute used by the Court in Plessy? Discuss the 3 standards of review too.

Standard of federal judicial review of the state statute used by the Court in Plessy?

1. What is the standard of federal judicial review of the state statute used by the Court in Plessy? Discuss the 3 standards of review too.
What are the differing perspectives of the “purpose” of the state statute in the majority and dissenting opinions?
Discuss the relevance of this “purpose” question in Plessy
What is the Court’s holding in Plessy?
Conclusion: what has happened to states adherence to civil rights acts.
Introduction – 1 paragraph
Main Section – 1-3 paragraphs

More Details:

Judicial review is the power of the courts to declare that acts of the other branches of government are unconstitutional, and thus unenforceable.

For example if Congress were to pass a law banning newspapers from printing

information about certain political matters, courts would have the authority to rule that this law violates the First Amendment, and is therefore unconstitutional.

State courts also have the power to strike down their own state’s laws based on the state or federal constitutions.

Today, we take judicial review for granted. In fact, it is one of the main characteristics of government in the United States.

On an almost daily basis, court decisions come down from around the country striking down state and federal rules as being unconstitutional.

Some of the topics of these laws in recent times include same sex marriage bans, voter

identification laws, gun restrictions, government surveillance programs and restrictions on abortion.

Other countries have also gotten in on the concept of judicial review.

A Romanian court recently ruled that a law granting immunity to lawmakers and banning certain types of speech against public officials was unconstitutional.

Greek courts have rule d that certain wage cuts for public employees are unconstitutional.

The legal system of the European Union specifically gives the Court of Justice of the European Union the power of judicial review.

The power of judicial review is also afforde d to the courts of Canada, Japan, India and other countries.

Lastly, clearly, the world trend is in favor of giving courts the power to review the acts of the other branches of government.

Analysis Essay Instructions: Carefully read Andrew Simmons essay “The Danger of Telling Poor Kids that College is the Key to Social Mobility.”

Analysis Essay Instructions: Carefully read Andrew Simmons essay

Carefully read Andrew Simmons essay “The Danger of Telling Poor Kids that College is the Key to Social Mobility.”
Make sure you watch my lecture on Simmons’s essay and the video that explains the instructions for your Analysis
Essay.
Your essay needs to accomplish the following:
It should follow the MLA format, which we have already covered.
Shoot for 2 full pages.

You need to make sure that your essay fulfills the two page minimum requirement.
To keep things organized, I want you to break your essay into three sections:

The first paragraph should provide information on the article’s title, its place of origin, its author, and its date of publication.

More so, it should also provide a basic summary of the article, highlighting the author’s main points and most significant ideas. In this way, it will be like the first paragraph from your previous essay.

Also, the second through fourth paragraphs should provide a more detailed analysis of the article. Here, you will have an opportunity to analyze on three techniques that Simmons employs in his article.

You might want to analyze his purpose, intended audience, organization, thesis statement, anecdotes, or repetition.

Use my lecture on Simmons’s article as a starting point.

For example, if you analyze his thesis statement, you would explain where his thesis is
located in his article, determine what type of thesis statement he employs (fact, value, policy), explain how you know what type of thesis it is, and comment on the effectiveness of his thesis.

Each paragraph should analyze only one technique. For example, if you decide to analyze how Simmon’s essay is organized inductively, then make sure you
stick with induction for the entire paragraph.

Do not switch to a different technique mid-paragraph. The fifth paragraph will give you an opportunity to evaluate the article.

Some questions you might want to consider: Did I learn anything new from this article? Was the article interesting?

Why or why not? Is there is anything about the article that I would change or revise? Was the article persuasive?

In conclusion , these questions should merely be a guide; please do not answer them directly in your essay.
Lastly, make sure you have a Works Cited page at the end of your essay.**

Ideas and concepts within the “Abolition Democracy” section

This paper must be 2 pages that include the following criteria:
1. Compare and Contrast Ideas and concepts within the “Abolition Democracy” section.
2. Answer: “What do you think is the most significant thing you read and why?

and What confused you about the reading and what was your attempt to solve that?

The paper can be simple and not too over the top, just makes sure those questions are answered. No quotes are allowe d, only your best explanation of the conce pts and id eas.

More Details:

Our task at Abolition Democracy 2/13 was to critically engage the theoretical framework of “abolition democracy”—the framework coined by W.E.B. Du Bois in his magnum opus,

Black Reconstruction in America, and reimagined by Angela Davis in her eponymous interviews with Eduardo Mendieta in 2005.

The notion of abolition democracy in Du Bois’s writings is at times ambiguous, seemingly referring on certain occasions to an ideal or ambition of racial justice and equality,

but at other times remaining tethered to a more historical and interest-convergence analysis.

On the one hand, abolition democracy is often describe d as an enlightene d, righteous, just ambition, “base d on freedom, intelligence and power for all men,” in Du Bois’s words;

[i] on the other hand, it is portraye d in other passages as an economically motivate d, self-intereste d project of the small capitalists and labor movement, who unite d in the myth of individualism.

Those kinds of tensions are often productive.

That’s certainly the case with Du Bois’s concept of abolition democracy.

For it is precisely this tension at the heart of Du Bois’s formidable 700+ page Black Reconstruction that makes his intervention so fecund:

it allows later generations to embrace the ideal of abolition democracy as a framework for social justice,

while reminding them of its demise after Reconstruction and thus of its fragility—of its dependence on economic considerations.

When Bernard Madoff started his investment company, Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities, LLC, he conducted business honestly.

Additionally, around the early 1990s, he stopped trading and started fabricating returns. He issued false statements.

Madoff sold to his clients the idea of combining blue chip securities with derivatives to hedge risk.
