The main purpose of the critique is to encourage you to read FLA research articles, and to read them closely and critically. Professional development requires teachers be knowledgeable about recent research. You should critique all aspects of the article. If the article was a research study, you should critique the research question, literature review, participant selection, methods, interpretation of findings, discussion of conclusions/implications. If it was a theoretical article, you should critique the overall argument. Most importantly, you should also comment on the study’s usefulness to teachers: Does it have the potential to inform your teaching? If so, how? You will also share your critique in a small group.
